“Christmas Poem”

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS,
HE LIVED ALL ALONE,
IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF
PLASTER AND STONE.

I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY
WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,
AND TO SEE JUST WHO
IN THIS HOME DID LIVE.

I LOOKED ALL ABOUT,
A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,
NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS,
NOT EVEN A TREE.

NO STOCKING BY MANTLE,
JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,
ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES
OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.

WITH MEDALS AND BADGES,
AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,
A SOBER THOUGHT
CAME THROUGH MY MIND.

FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT,
IT WAS DARK AND DREARY,
I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER,
ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY.

THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING,
SILENT, ALONE,
CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR
IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.

THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE,
THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER,
NOT HOW I PICTURED
A UNITED STATES SOLDIER.

WAS THIS THE HERO
OF WHOM I'D JUST READ?
CURLED UP ON A PONCHO,
THE FLOOR FOR A BED?

I REALIZED THE FAMILIES
THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT,
OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS
WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.

SOON ROUND THE WORLD,
THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,
AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE
A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.

THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM
EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,
BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS,
LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.

I COULDN'T HELP WONDER
HOW MANY LAY ALONE,

THE VERY THOUGHT
BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE,

THE SOLDIER AWAKENED

"SANTA DON'T CRY,
THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE;

I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM,
I DON'T ASK FOR MORE,
MY LIFE IS MY GOD,
MY! COUNTRY, MY CORPS."

THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER
AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP,
I COULDN'T CONTROL IT,
I CONTINUED TO WEEP.

I WEPT FOR HOURS,
SO SILENT AND STILL
AND WE BOTH SHIVERED
FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL.

I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE
ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT,
THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR
SO WILLING TO FIGHT.

THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER,
WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,
WHISPERED, "CARRY ON SANTA,
IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE."

ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH,
AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT.
"MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND!
AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT."

Ugh, Life Sucks

Okay, for those you who read my blog regularly, (although, I don't know if there is anybody who reads my blog regularly) you know that I LOVE to complain. About the smallest insignificant things. Like getting a paper cut (I actually have one right now, how fun is that?) and burning your tongue on your Hot Cocoa, which I just did. So, you shouldn't be surprised if I say that I blew up (not literally, I yelled, cried, screamed, basically fell apart) when everyone at the church that I've been attending for all my 14 years has been ignoring me. Well, not everyone; the adults there are extremely nice. Ugh, if it weren't for my choir directors, I probably would quit. :(

On a totally unreated topic; mi padre is totally sending me mixed signals, you know how he wants me to go into the 'big bucks' stuff? Well today he asked me if I've ever considered a career in writing!!! WTF??? I mean you don't completely bully your daughter into believing what she want's to do is deadbeat and not worth her time, and then ask if she want's to do it? I mean, do you know how that makes me feel? Then he had the nerve to ask if I've been writing at all! HELLO!!! He obviously hasn't been paying attention to the late nights that I spend writing... ugh, this urks me so bad...

Oh, have I told you guys that I'm lactose-intolerant now??? Yep, it sucks; no cheese, no ice cream, no sour cream, no milk, no hot chocolate cereal... My life is in ruin...

One happy note of my life; my extended family christmas was last weekend. (17th &18th) I got $70 in cash; $25 gift card to B&N (Which I've already spent; I bought The Demon King, and The Exile Queen) $50 to Target (Clothes, here I come!!!) $10 to iTunes (must I explain?) and a whole bunch of Aeropostale clothes that didn't fit (I returned them and got clothes that fit, a scarf and a hat, for only $2.12 more!) Oh, and I got some foundation; not much, but hopefully I can buy some with my Target Gift Card...

Well, I should really get back to writing reviews, or stories, or fanfiction, or something... See ya!

Of Epic Suckiness...

My life officially SUCKS!!! Here are ten reasons why:

1. I lost my flash-drive with all my prized documents stored upon it.
2. Some of my homework that is due this week was on it.
3. I'm falling behind on my English homework.
4. I have a B in Mathematics.
5. I'm behind on my reading for my Goodreads goal of 100 books (I'm only at 81.)
6. I haven't done any of my math homework for a week. (Maybe that's why I have a B)
7. Districts in Cross Country are this Thursday.
8. I have the flu.
9. I ran out of candy.
10. My ipod hates me, it keeps dying.

So now you know how much I envy everyone in the world but myself... A LOT!!!!!

OMG!!! I know, I haven't updated in a while, but I have an excuse!!! I've had homework, church, and cross country!!! So, yeah!!!

But back to my OMG!!! Maria V. Snyder has a new book coming out soon!!! It's called "A Touch of Power" **Happy Dance** I don't think it's in the same universe as The Study and Glass series', but, It looks cool...

Um... Well, I'm currently writing a FanFiction (One-shot) during my free-time at school... I personally think it's horrible... but, hey! My friends don't!

I watched the 'Something Borrowed' Movie last weekend... It was about 60% like the book... but still good...

I'm currently listening to Sugarland's County Line... I love it...

Well, I've seemed to have been neglecting my duties as a blog hostess... sorry, my avid readers... If I even have any... (I have really no clue if I have any readers... if you read my blog on a regular basis, please let me know in a comment, otherwise, I might stop this completely...)

But I have also been neglecting my summer reading homework... so don't feel bad... Tomorrow, school starts... and guess you hasn't done her homework!!!!!!!! If you guessed me, you're right... It's just so hard!!!

Why??? Why does God hate me??? Why did he give me a terrible book to over-annalyze and squeeze any possibility of goodness out of it, and force me to then write a report about it????

Ugh... I'm going to go and wallow in self-pity, and maybe, just maybe, get off my ass long enough to do my homework...

I finally finished the Sword in the Stone, now I just need to review it... not my style, school style...

I also read two other books since I talked to you guys last... 'Something Borrowed' by Emily Griffin, and 'The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants' by Ann Brashares

They're both pretty good... all you girls should read them...

Cross Country y ISF y el libro...

Okay... today was day 5 of Cross Country... FIVE!!!!!!! Ugh... I'm sooooo tired... after running for 3+ miles everday, for a week, you'll feel the same way... if your not in shape that is... guess what? I'm not in shape... nope...

Yesterday was the first day of the IOWA STATE FAIR!!! Yes, my dear readers, the IOWA STATE FAIR!!! Probably the most famous state fair in the United States of America!!! Yep... It's awesome... Yesterday, I had a bag of brownies, a corn dog, and the ice cream part of a root beer float... yep... I almost exploded, but hey! It was good!!!

Um... I'm reading... are you ready for it? The Sword in the Stone... yep... absolutely BORING!!!! I'm currently reading it... and only it... which is not really normal for me... so... you now know how dedicated I am to my summer reading assignment...

So... um, yeah...

So.... Um.... Yeah...

Okay... I'm bored, I'm tired, I'm sore, I have a headache, I'm grumpy, I have the worst writers block EVER, and to top it all off, I have to get in condition for Cross Country...

Yep... Fun right?
Cross Country starts Monday... I've run twice all summer, so... I'm not at all in condition... When I ran this morning, it was perfect conditions... 6:15 in the morning, cloudy, slight wind, about 65 degrees, slight humidity... perfection... I did run a strait mile... too bad that in cross country, you have to run 2 or 3 miles...

Um... unrelated note... Me madre y yo nosotros vamos... shopping... We spent a lot of money... but a lot of the stuff of we can both fit into... so... that's cool... I bought a lot of my school supplies... still don't have my calculator yet... which sucks...

I'm currently trying to finish a fanfiction chapter that I started in July... which is absolutely horrible... I'm a horrible updater...

You probably want me to shut up now...

Welcome August

It's here... the dreaded month when School returns, and we have to go back to waking up at 5:30 in the morning, and working our asses off for an A... then getting yelled at for only getting a 95%... yep... this is gonna be a good year!!! I'm taking a weighted class!!! (which means it's even harder than normal...)

Glee Music is AWESOME!!! That's all I gotta say.... :)

I have had probably the most hectic last 48 hours of MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!!!!!!

Friday~ Last day of CACTUS... this needs no explanation
     What I learned~

• Never EVER let little kids run around unattended...

Saturday~ Balloon Festival... In Indianola, Iowa, during the first week of August, there is the Midwest Regional Balloon Festival... dozens of Balloons (Hot Air, for all of you idiots) are blown up at the same time, and they race to complete tasks... it's awesome... I spent the day with my cousins, uncle, aunt and 'grandmother.' I tried to teach my brother the delicacies of Glee Music... Um... yeah...
     What I learned~

• Jimmy Johns is 'Freaky Fast' but not 'Freaky Reliable' (They gave me a sandwhich without tomato, lettuce, or mayo, but charged me for it)
• Ask the A & W kiosk if they'll give you just plain ice cream before you wait in line for it (in 100+ Heat) for 15 minutes only to find that they only do floats
• Never let your brother beat you in Phase Ten
• Only tease your parent unless you have the other parent's or their parent's (your grandparent's) permission

Sunday (Today)~ CACTUS performance... everything that the kids learned throughout the week... now performed in a real church service...
      What I learned~

• make sure kids know what they're doing before you have them perform it in front of 500+ people...

That's all I have to say... and I didn't even mention the ice incident...

The Help

This movie, staring Emma Stone, Viola Davis, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Octavia Spencer, is set in Mississippi during the 1960's...

As far as I can see, it's about a young woman, fresh out of college, who returns home, and decides to write a book with the help of... the help... the black servants.


I think it looks hilarious... but that's just me...

Here I am, bored out of my mind, sitting here, at my desk, waiting for something exciting to happen... **cricket cricket** Fine!!! Be that way!!!

All I've done for the past two days, is sit in my room, trying to write fanfiction, (which isn't going anywhere, I might add,) finding more music on Youtube that I have no money to buy on Itunes, and studying for my driver's permit test... Yep, life is good...

My brother came back from his mission trip the other day... did I tell you guys about the fact that it would be too expensive to send both my brother and me on a mission trip, so he gets to go to 5 while I get to go to 3?

Well, I'm currently texting my friend, and she's telling me to talk in words longer than one syllable... it's fun annoying her with that...

I'm going to see Captain America on Friday... it should be awesome... not as awesome as Harry Potter, but still awesome...

I just got back from watching the 8th and final installment of the amazing Harry Potter movie series. There was only one part where I cried, though, when I saw Fred's lifeless body... that was absolutely HORRIBLE!!!!

My favorite part was when McGonagall, giddy as a schoolgirl, squeled: "I've always wanted to use that spell!" And Mrs. Weasley just looked at her like she was crazy...

My best friend wrote this pledge, now, if you adore Harry Potter as much as I do, you will repost this on every blog, facebook, twitter, and any other social network site you have!!! GO!!!

At School, Yet, Not At School...

I'm at my mom's school while she's teaching Summer School. Why? Because she want's me to help her set up for another Summer School next week... Which is in a  different building... Fun Right?

So, needless to say, I'm a little bored...  So, I'm writing Fanfiction, updating Tark's Pick's, doing random stuff on Goodreads... It's all good... kinda...

Well, Colbie Caillat came out with a new album... All of You... Unfortunatly, I don't have enough money on Itunes to buy it... **Sad Face**

I've been sorting papers for the past hour... I have so many papercuts, it aint even funny... And they're not all on my hands... they're all over my forearms and neck... don't ask me how I got papercuts on my neck... It just happend...

Well, my mom is telling me to do something... I should probably go... so, see ya!

One Heck of a Scare...

Do you wanna know what the scare was? no, I didn't get attacked by a man-eating pussy cat... (no, that was last week) I had 4 out of 7 symptoms of Semolina Poisoning... YUCK!!! I had:

1. fever
2. nasea
3. blood in stol
4. headache

yup... but, I took a nap for two or three hours and I was all better...

Um... I saw Transformers 3!!! It was epic... not as epic as Harry Potter (T MINUS FIVE DAYS) will be, but it was still cool...

Reading: Firelight, by Sophie Jordan... it's pretty good... I'm about half way through, and it's due tomorrow, so... yeah...

Fanfiction update... it's coming... slowly...

I'm so jealous... and mad at her, because we were going to go to the regular midnight premiere, but she just had to go and get imax tickets... so now I can't go...

The End of Chaos

Jar Of Hearts (by Christina Perri) is one of my new favorite songs. It's really awesome... and it gave me an idea for my fanfiction **Evil smirk**

When I checked my email a few minutes ago, I found that I haven't checked it since Wednesday... Needless to say it took a while to go through all hundred of them... So... I'm done with checking my email every few days... its gonna be every day... two to three times a day...


Today was the last day of VBS... We had rice crispy treats with grapes... I don't like rice crispy treats normally... but these were REALLY good... the snack coordinator gave me some grapes, rice crispy treats, pretzels, and crackers with spray cheese to bring home. I had crackers and cheese for lunch...


Well... my book (Ranger's Apprentice 10: The Emperor of Nihon-Ja) is getting REALLY good... I'm kinda sad that this is the last book in the series, but I hope that John Flanagan does another series, because I really enjoy his writing.


Um... what else do you not want to know... Well, I took a break from reading RA to read Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Demigod Files. I read the story; The Bronze Dragon... I honestly forgot how funny it was... I can't wait until the new Heroes of Olympus book comes out... I still haven't read the Kane Chronicles book two yet... which is kinda weird, since it came out over three months ago (I think! Don't hold me to that!)


Well... I should go... I'm getting hungry, I'm gonna get some more crackers and cheese...

I'm writing this on an iPad so... If you see any weird looking words that are similar to words that fit in with the sentence, know that it has auto correct... Stupid apple... I swear, autocorrect is one a of the worst inventions of the 21st century... Gah... I hate it!

Moving on... THE KIDS AT VBS LOVED ME TODAY!!! I mean, they didn't attack me... Which is a plus... But they did swarm me...but I am kinda happy about that because they swarmed me because I had pretzels... I mean I had A LOT of pretzels...over five bags of pretzels!!! But we got rid of pretty much all of them... The kids REALLY liked them... Some of them asked for five to ten servings of pretzels... Their parents probably won't like me, but the kids sure do!

Well, on a different note, Pottermore was a complete disappointment... I was expecting something more... Potterish... I'm mad at J.K. Rowling...

I had a MUCH better day at VBS today... I didn't get assaulted or showered in spray cheese... It was, in retro-spect to the past two days, quite calm... For which I was EXTREMELY greatful...

Apologies and VBS

Okay, I know it's been a while. And by a while, I mean over three months... I've been busy with church, school, friends, fanfiction, the library... the list goes on and on.... but you probably don't want my excuses, do you? You probably just want me to go on to as normal...

I'm sorry to say, that I missed the 1 year anniversary of Tark's Place... So sad. I was literally depressed... I've already made a scheduled post for next year's, so that if I forget again, it won't be missed.

Right now is Vacation Bible School at my church (VBS for short). The theme for this is is displayed to the left. (But you probably figured that out by yourself). Lets just say that it's UTTER CHAOS!!!! I'm one of the snack coordinators and for snack today, we had white/yellow cupcakes with frosting and sprinkles. And we have water for them everyday. Well, while I was walking around, refilling water cups, a little third grader came up to me and shook me until all the ice cold water that had been in pitcher (3/4 of a gallon) had spilled all over me. Fun right? That's not all... no more than five minutes after I'd dried myself off, another little kid came up behind me trying to get my attention, and smeared frosting all over my brand new shorts. In a very, um, inappropriate spot. Needless to say, I was... PISSED!!!!!! But, although it was extremely hard, I refrained from slapping any of the kids, even the one who purposely poured water on a table. I only yelled and probably scared a few kids for life.

I know I haven't posted in.... let me check my calendar... FOREVER!!!

Me apologizes... I've had 4 family/friend birthdays in the past month, Fanfiction, Facebook, homework, Bob, Spring Cleaning, Track, Basketball... I could go on and on... but I won't...

Right now I should probably be working on my English Essay, or my fanfiction, or reading Bob books, or running, or practicing for honor orchestra... but I'm not... because I love you all better... **Smiles sweetly**

I like pie... my name is Lily... Did I mention that I like pie? No I'm joking, thats not it... this is an ecerpt from chapter 7, I just put it up this morning :)

I sobbed. I felt myself slide down the cold wall outside the Head’s common room. I held my head in my hands and I cried. Why? Why did everyone hate me? Why do they care? Why does it matter? They shouldn’t even care that I exist! Why do they want to make my life a living hell?

“Lily?”

I looked around for the source of the voice. Finding no one, I think I’m going crazy.  I stood up and wiped my eyes. I can’t let them see that this upsets me. It would be the end of me. Calmly, I walked through the Portrait hole, ignoring the Victorian man in the painting who was hitting on me.

Death in Lines...

Well... I can sympathize with all those writers who are trying to make deadlines... I love writing stories... but I hate all the pressure of the fans, co-writers, friends... UGH!!! I'm going crazy, my friends want another chapter written by Tuesday... I don't think I can get another one written by then... with all my homework, and all my Facebooking (is that even a word??? It should be...) and all my blogging... My life is pretty hectic...

But I am so glad that Finals are over... SOOOOOOOOOO Glad... on Thursday, I was practically jumping up and down... It was Soooo awesome.... only one other of my friends had no more finals... We laughed at everyone else... It was fun...

Biology is a lot easier then Physics/Chemistry... My teacher called Bio, Puking... the Teacher Pukes the information out to you. You digest it, comprehend it, and then puke it back in tests, quizzes, and homework. To the right is my Bio book. It is really heavy, and has a lot of gross pictures in it, but we have to do less sections. But I also have to do more detailed notes **Sad Face**

Uh Oh... My dad is yelling at me for being up so late... Really... why do parents not like it when I stay up until 11:45??? **Sighs deeply** Life can suck sometimes... but the world keeps on rolling... how very depressing....

Okay... just thought I'd get that out there... mostly it's science tests that suck, but that's just me...

English was an easy A
Word Within the Word was a kinda easy A
Science... a pretty easy B (At least I think it was a B... I don't really know...)

Yep... got a pretty bad grade in science... but hey!!! It's all a matter of perspective... In 20 years, I won't care what my 8th grade 1st semester final grade was... as long as I got an A as the semester grade... which I did!!!

I STILL HAVE MY 4.0 GPA!!!

I'm going off topic a bit here, but y'all remember the post about Guacamole??? At the end of 7th grade??? Well... She's evil... again... Not in the way that my BF thought then... now it's worse... MUCH worse... They practically had a shouting matching the cafeteria... It was fun... once I joined in... not fun watching my BF get reduced practically to tears... yeah... **sighs**

Okay... I got a question... How many people think I should do my Bio homework??? **No one does anything**

New question... How many people think I should get ahead in a stupidly hard class that I'll hate??? **Everyone raises their hands** Thought so...

Crazy 'Bout Books...

Is it crazy to have 178 blog posts in 15 months??? Each of them about a different book??? Cause I don't think so... but all my friends do... Am I crazy???

I finally updated my book blog... which is how my friends and I got onto that subject... over 40 blog posts in one day... ONE DAY!!! I couldn't feel my fingers the rest of the night... Never try and  eat pizza without the ability to use your hands... you'll just embarrass yourself... not that I would know that... **cough, cough**

So... after I had regained feeling in my hands, my dad and I went outside and messed around with our telescope... it was fun... but I soon lost feeling in my hands again... this time from the cold... even though I was wearing three pairs of gloves...

Well... I gotta go get some homework done... and some studying... so... see ya... hopefully I sooner update sooner than last time...

I Envy You... **Sighs**

All of you, who don't have to take finals... I got 1 thing and 1 thing only to say to you... well it's 2 words... but... YOU SUCK!!!!!!!!!

Although, I shouldn't be complaining, because I really only have to take 2.5 finals... when most people have  to take, like, 4 or 5, so... I have to take English (Grammar), Science (Chem & Physics), and English (Vocabulary)

The English are going to be A LOT harder than the science because I'm really good at science, and got an A. I have A's in all my classes, but my teacher is so awesome, I got a .5 get out of the Final free card, so... I only have to guess right on some of them... hehe... I laugh at all the other people in my class who have to take the entire thing... ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well... I've gotten a little behind on my book blog's posts... I haven't updated since... October??? That's a LONG time... considering, I'm supposed to update it 3 times a week... Oops???
